Supportive Living

S.P.I.K.E SERVICES

SPIKE Licensed Residential Homes

Licensed Residential Homes

All of our homes are fully licensed and staffed around the clock, ensuring that each individual receives the level of support they need to live as independently as possible. Our residences work closely with the individual, their day program (where applicable), and their broader support team to create a coordinated, person-centered approach.

These homes are fully integrated into the community, and residents are encouraged to actively participate and contribute in ways that are meaningful to them. Both residential support and opportunities for outside activities are tailored to each person’s preferences and goals, allowing individuals the freedom to make choices about how they spend their time and engage with their surroundings.

SPIKE Respite

Respite

Respite is a service designed to support families by providing short-term, flexible care for their loved ones. A trained staff member visits the individual’s home and takes them out to enjoy a variety of activities, often offering experiences and opportunities that might not otherwise be accessible. This service not only gives families a well-deserved break but also enriches the individual’s life by encouraging engagement, social interaction, and new experiences in a safe and supportive way.

SPIKE Day Services

Day Services

The program is designed around each individual’s unique goals, strengths, and needs, using a multidisciplinary approach to provide well-rounded support. Services span a wide range of focus areas, including physical health, through enjoyable movement activities, structured exercise, and health education, as well as social development, education, life skills, vocational exploration, and recreation.

We are committed to building meaningful community connections, recognizing that “community” looks different for every person. With countless interests and pathways to explore, we take pride in truly getting to know each individual and supporting them within a welcoming, collaborative team environment.

To promote stability and continuity, we work closely with residential teams and families whenever possible, ensuring consistency and shared understanding across all areas of the individual’s life.

SPIKE Retirement Services

Retirement Services

As people age, their needs and interests naturally evolve. At S.P.I.K.E., we recognize and embrace these changes, providing the tailored support necessary to ensure a fulfilling and high-quality life during this stage. For us, retirement represents a transition, not an ending, a new chapter filled with opportunities for engagement, growth, and enjoyment. Our services focus on maintaining independence, fostering meaningful connections, and supporting each individual to thrive as they navigate this exciting phase of life.

SPIKE Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living

Some of the individuals we support choose to live independently or share a home with a roommate in an apartment or house, without requiring the level of assistance provided in a community residence. S.P.I.K.E. offers flexible, personalized support to help them successfully maintain their homes and daily routines. This includes assistance with meal planning and cooking, grocery shopping, budgeting, and managing household bills, empowering each person to live with greater confidence, independence, and stability.

SPIKE Transportation

Transportation

All of our residences have access to vehicles, ensuring that the people we support can participate in a wide range of activities throughout the week. This includes transportation to medical appointments, recreational outings, community events, and other essential engagements. Our fleet is also utilized to support Day Services activities during daytime hours, and where available, we provide reliable transportation to and from the program, promoting accessibility, inclusion, and consistent participation in daily life.

SPIKE Outreach

Outreach

Outreach is a transitional service designed to support individuals as they move from one living arrangement to another, whether from the family home or an alternative residential setting. This service provides meaningful opportunities for individuals to meet and connect with others who may wish to share accommodations in the future. By fostering these introductions and experiences, Outreach empowers individuals to make informed, confident choices about where they live and who they choose to live with, supporting a smooth and thoughtful transition.

SPIKE Foster Care

Home Share

Home Share is a supportive living arrangement in which one or two individuals live with a care provider or care providers in the provider’s home. This service offers a safe, welcoming environment while promoting independence, daily living skills, and meaningful social connections. The care provider offers personalized support tailored to each individual’s needs, such as assistance with meals, household routines, transportation, and community participation, while fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion in a family-style setting.

S.P.I.K.E. Day Services

Although the Day Service initially began with residents from S.P.I.K.E., it quickly expanded to include school graduates and new referrals.

The Day Service allows us to deliver high-quality services, including:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Fun and engaging exercise sessions to support mobility
  • Support for individuals with higher needs
  • A team-based approach to individual support
  • Building strong community connections

Community means different things to different people. With as many interests as there are individuals, getting to know each person is essential.

We take pride in understanding each individual and supporting them within a friendly, collaborative team environment. Some participants prefer more social activities, while others benefit from different types of engagement. We also work closely with residential teams and families to ensure consistency and stability in each person’s life.

We are continually seeking new and interesting activities that are free or available at a reasonable cost to the individual.

If you would like to make a donation to support our Day Service, please visit our Donation page for contact details and let us know that you would like your contribution directed to the Day Service.
